The collaboration between the District Development Agency and Moses Kotane Institute saw the succesfull execution of Skills Development Programme in the digital space. The MICT SETA accredited training on Mobile Cellullar Phone repair (Technical Support Level 4) will allow entry into the untapped services sector market within the broader technology. In the event hosted by the Harry Gwala District Municipality, the District Development Agency handed over MICT SETA accredited certificates to twelve (12) youth persons from across the District. Additionally, the Agency handed over essential business equipment to youth -owned businesses following an open and transparent selection process. The business support forms part of the broader mandate to foster sustainable development through inclusive participation. The youth in business initiative is designed to provide support to businesses led by youth entrepreneurs focused on investing in economic growth The first four successful businesses walked away with various prizes summarised below: 1st price: R 125 000 Gagase Nhlangulela Pty Ltd - JPP Municipality 2nd price: R80 000 Zukies Beauty Spar - uMzimkhulu Municipality 3rd price: R50 000 Delicate Cuisine - Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality 4th price: R25 000 Ubuntu Creatives -uMzimkhulu Municipality. The Agency also provides continued monitoring to ensure the long term success and sustainability of these business ventures.
